Emma E. Duncan

I have to start out by saying I’m incredibly grateful for the way the Lord orchestrated my path in such a way that I ended up on the team at CED. Rachel Porter, one of the owners, was my high school English teacher; she is largely responsible for my pursuit of a career in the subject, and I love considering what my 14-year-old self would have thought if she knew that years later, her relationship with Rachel would lead her here!

After those high school years at Cincinnati Christian, I earned a BA in English from Southeastern University (2018) as well as an MA in English from Rutgers University (2020). My passion for editing developed early in my postsecondary studies; I started tutoring, editing, and proofreading for undergraduate and graduate students during my second year at Southeastern. Those years of experience as a tutor and editor allowed me to refine my skills as they were being developed.

During my time at Rutgers, I began partnering with doctoral students enrolled in ministry programs. I am confident that the Lord led Rachel, Dale, and Jake to purchase CED at just the right time because as demand for my editing services rose, my capacity for the workload shrank. I’ve been able to partner with CED to develop the academic division of our business, which is growing rapidly!

When not editing, I’m likely lost in a book at my local tea room, walking my golden retrievers, or on a cruise!

Colossians 3:17 guides my life:  “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” (ESV).
