Dixie Phillips
In 2005, I was a busy pastor’s wife writing for our church and Christian school. I posted a few articles online. Karen Burkett read some of them and invited me to be on her team at CED. I was so excited and knew I would have amazing writing opportunities, but I never dreamed CED would bless me with so many precious friendships.
CED made it possible for me to be a part of writing memoirs, personal testimonies, Bible studies, devotionals, songs, poems, musicals, and children’s books. I especially enjoy mentoring budding songwriters and new authors. There’s something sacred about helping others achieve their God-dreams.
In 2015, my sister-in-law Sharon and I won a Dove Award for the Southern Gospel Song of the Year with our song “Hidden Heroes.” This opened the door for many more songwriting opportunities. In 2018, I was honored to be one of the co-writers of “Remember for Me” on Gordon Mote’s Grammy-nominated Best Roots Gospel Album Love, Love, Love.
My husband Paul and I have been honored to serve the congregation of the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Floyd, Iowa, since 1981. We have four children and seventeen perfect grandchildren.
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” (Isaiah 40:31 NIV).
Dixie was honored to be one of the co-writers on the title cut of the Kingdom Heirs’ album No Better Time. It was honored as the Album of the Year at the 2025 Absolutely Gospel Music Awards. The title song “No Better Time” was recognized as a standout song and radio hit.
